Cellular Senescence Clearing

Meaning

Cellular Senescence Clearing is a targeted therapeutic strategy focused on the selective removal of senescent cells, often referred to as “zombie cells,” from tissues and organs. Senescent cells are damaged cells that have permanently ceased division but remain metabolically active, secreting a pro-inflammatory cocktail of molecules known as the Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype (SASP). This SASP drives chronic low-grade inflammation, or inflammaging, which significantly contributes to tissue dysfunction and age-related hormonal decline. Clearing these cells is a key intervention for restoring tissue homeostasis and enhancing longevity.
