CD4+ T Cells

Meaning

A distinct subset of lymphocytes, or white blood cells, that express the CD4 glycoprotein on their surface and are central orchestrators of the adaptive immune system. Often referred to as helper T cells, these cells are crucial for coordinating the body’s immune response by releasing signaling molecules called cytokines. They play a pivotal role in hormonal health by interacting with endocrine tissues and influencing autoimmune conditions, such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
