Cardiovascular Health Stress

Meaning

The cumulative physiological load imposed on the heart, vasculature, and regulatory systems by acute or chronic physical, metabolic, or psychological stressors. This stress manifests as an increased demand for cardiac output, sustained elevations in blood pressure, and chronic inflammatory signaling within the endothelial lining of blood vessels. It represents the degree to which homeostatic mechanisms, particularly the autonomic nervous system and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, are taxed.
