Cardiometabolic Syndrome

Meaning

Cardiometabolic Syndrome defines a cluster of interconnected metabolic risk factors that significantly increase an individual’s likelihood of developing cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. This condition is typically diagnosed when a patient presents with at least three out of five specific criteria: elevated waist circumference, high blood pressure, high fasting blood glucose, elevated triglycerides, and reduced high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels. It represents a state of metabolic dysregulation impacting multiple physiological systems.
