Cardiac Ischemia

Meaning

A clinical condition defined by an insufficient supply of oxygenated blood to the myocardium, the heart muscle, typically due to a partial or complete blockage in the coronary arteries. This imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand compromises cardiac cell function and integrity. Prolonged ischemia can lead to myocardial infarction, or heart attack, a significant clinical event.
