Cardiac Arrhythmia

Meaning

Cardiac Arrhythmia is a clinical disturbance characterized by an abnormal heart rhythm, where the heart beats too rapidly (tachycardia), too slowly (bradycardia), or irregularly (dysrhythmia). These electrical abnormalities result from defects in the heart’s impulse generation or conduction system, ranging from benign palpitations to life-threatening conditions like ventricular fibrillation. The delicate balance of the endocrine system, particularly sex and thyroid hormones, is a significant modulator of myocardial electrical stability.
