Cancer Progression

Meaning

Cancer progression describes the dynamic, multi-step process by which a malignant tumor advances from a localized, early-stage lesion to an invasive, metastatic disease state. This pathological continuum involves unchecked cellular proliferation, evasion of immune surveillance, and the eventual dissemination of cancer cells to distant organs. The endocrine system can significantly influence the rate and trajectory of this progression in hormone-sensitive cancers.
