Caloric Fallacy

Meaning

The Caloric Fallacy posits that focusing solely on the quantitative measurement of energy intake versus expenditure is insufficient for explaining the complexity of body composition regulation and long-term weight management. It directly challenges the simplistic first law of thermodynamics application in human physiology. This concept acknowledges that what energy is consumed influences how that energy is handled by the body. We must look beyond the simple arithmetic of calories.
