C15

Meaning

Pentadecanoic acid, commonly referred to as C15, is a saturated fatty acid characterized by a 15-carbon atom chain. Unlike many even-numbered fatty acids, C15 is an odd-chain fatty acid, meaning it possesses an odd number of carbon atoms in its structure. It is naturally present in trace amounts within certain dietary sources, particularly in ruminant dairy fats and some fish.
