Borderline Ovarian Tumors

Meaning

Borderline Ovarian Tumors, also clinically known as tumors of low malignant potential (LMP), represent a distinct category of epithelial ovarian neoplasms. These tumors exhibit proliferative cellular features but lack the destructive stromal invasion characteristic of invasive ovarian cancer. They are typically slow-growing and carry a significantly better prognosis than malignant ovarian carcinomas. Careful pathological staging is crucial for determining the appropriate clinical management and surveillance plan for the patient.
