Blood Pressure Fluctuation

Meaning

Blood pressure fluctuation refers to significant, often rapid, variations in systemic arterial pressure, moving outside the normal homeostatic range. These shifts involve changes in both systolic and diastolic measurements over short periods, deviating from the typical diurnal rhythm. While minor variations are physiological, excessive or sustained fluctuations can indicate underlying autonomic dysfunction or cardiovascular instability. In endocrinology, these changes are frequently linked to imbalances in hormones that regulate fluid balance and vascular tone.
