Bipolar Androgen Therapy (BAT)

Meaning

Bipolar Androgen Therapy, often abbreviated as BAT, represents a specialized treatment approach primarily for advanced prostate cancer, characterized by alternating between supraphysiologic (very high) and near-castrate (very low) levels of circulating androgens. This cyclical modulation of androgen exposure aims to exploit the adaptive mechanisms of prostate cancer cells, rather than simply suppressing androgen receptor signaling continuously.
