Biological Readiness State

Meaning

The Biological Readiness State is a clinical assessment of an individual’s current systemic capacity to adapt to and recover from physical, metabolic, or psychological stressors. It represents the net balance between anabolism and catabolism, modulated significantly by the integrity of the neuroendocrine and autonomic nervous systems. A high readiness state indicates robust homeostatic reserve, optimal hormonal signaling, and high mitochondrial function. Clinicians use this concept to gauge the appropriate intensity for training, therapeutic interventions, or periods of planned metabolic stress.
