Biological Pacemaker

Meaning

The biological pacemaker, scientifically known as the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), is a small but critical region within the hypothalamus of the brain that serves as the master regulator of the body’s circadian rhythms. It synchronizes the timing of virtually all physiological processes, including hormone secretion, sleep-wake cycles, metabolism, and body temperature. This central clock ensures that internal bodily functions are appropriately timed to the 24-hour day-night cycle.
