Biological Load

Meaning

Biological load is a clinical metric representing the cumulative physiological stress and burden placed upon an individual’s homeostatic systems from both internal and external stressors, including chronic inflammation, pathogen exposure, and hormonal dysregulation. This measure reflects the total demand on the body’s adaptive capacity, indicating the overall wear and tear on organ systems. A high biological load suggests an increased risk for chronic disease and accelerated biological aging, often correlated with significant endocrine disruption. Clinicians use this concept to frame multi-systemic dysfunction.
