This refers to the optimal functioning and robust synchronization of the body’s intrinsic timing systems, collectively known as the circadian system. High integrity implies a strong, stable, and correctly aligned 24-hour rhythm in all physiological processes, including hormone secretion, sleep-wake cycles, and metabolic activity. Loss of integrity, or desynchronization, is clinically associated with an increased risk for metabolic and endocrine disorders.
