Bioidentical Hormone

Meaning

A Bioidentical Hormone is a compound that is structurally and chemically identical to the hormones naturally produced by the human body, such as estradiol, progesterone, or testosterone. Unlike synthetic hormones, which often possess altered molecular structures, bioidentical hormones are recognized and metabolized by the body in the exact same manner as endogenous hormones. Clinical practice utilizes these hormones, frequently derived from plant sources and modified in a lab, for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to address deficiencies and optimize endocrine function.
