Mechanism
The most common form is negative feedback, where an elevated hormone level inhibits the release of its stimulating factor from the hypothalamus or pituitary gland, thus dampening its own production. Conversely, positive feedback mechanisms, while less common, amplify a response until a specific physiological endpoint is reached, such as the surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) that triggers ovulation. These loops maintain hormonal stability and orchestrate complex physiological events.
