Bioenergetic Compromise

Meaning

Bioenergetic Compromise describes a physiological state where a cell or organism experiences a deficit in its capacity to generate sufficient adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, to meet metabolic demands. This reduction in cellular energy currency can hinder normal biochemical processes, impairing cellular function and ultimately impacting systemic health. It represents a fundamental challenge to the body’s energy production systems, particularly within the mitochondria.
