Bioactive Hormone Fraction Assessment

Meaning

This assessment represents the measurement of the portion of a circulating hormone that is readily available to interact with its target cell receptors and exert a biological effect. It specifically includes the free, unbound hormone and, for some hormones, the fraction loosely bound to albumin, often termed the bioavailable fraction. This metric is clinically superior to total hormone measurement for evaluating true hormonal status.
