BH3 Mimetics

Meaning

BH3 Mimetics are small molecules engineered to restore programmed cell death, apoptosis, in cancer cells. They antagonize anti-apoptotic BCL-2 family proteins, often overexpressed in malignancies. This disinhibits the intrinsic apoptotic pathway, allowing cellular demise by mimicking pro-apoptotic BH3-only proteins.
