Beta-Glucuronidase

Meaning

Beta-Glucuronidase is a lysosomal enzyme found throughout the body, including the liver and gut microbiome, which is fundamentally involved in the detoxification process. Its primary biochemical role is the hydrolysis of glucuronide conjugates, effectively de-conjugating compounds that the body has prepared for excretion. Elevated activity of this enzyme can clinically signify issues in the efficient elimination of certain hormones and toxins.
