Beta-Amyloid Accumulation

Meaning

Beta-amyloid accumulation describes the pathological aggregation of amyloid-beta peptides within the brain’s extracellular space. These peptides, primarily Aβ40 and Aβ42, misfold and coalesce, forming insoluble plaques that disrupt normal brain function. This process represents a central pathological event observed in specific neurodegenerative conditions.
