Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Meaning

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, or BPH, is a common, non-malignant enlargement of the prostate gland typically observed in aging males. This proliferation of stromal and epithelial cells within the transition zone often leads to the compression of the prostatic urethra. Clinically, it presents as lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), impacting voiding and storage functions. Management strategies aim to alleviate mechanical obstruction.
