Azoospermia Factor

Meaning

Azoospermia Factor (AZF) refers to specific regions on the Y chromosome critical for spermatogenesis, the process of sperm production. Deletions within these regions are a common genetic cause of severe male infertility, including azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia. These genetic alterations disrupt the proper formation and maturation of sperm.
