Autonomic Mechanisms

Meaning

Autonomic Mechanisms refer to the self-governing, involuntary control processes orchestrated by the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), which regulates the function of internal organs and glands. This vital system operates outside of conscious awareness to manage fundamental life-sustaining activities like heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, digestion, and the hormonal stress response. It is the body’s rapid, non-negotiable system for immediate physiological adaptation. The ANS is a critical bridge between the central nervous system and the endocrine system.
