Attention Deficit

Meaning

Attention deficit refers to a clinically significant and persistent difficulty in sustaining focus, resisting distraction, and organizing tasks, often resulting in impaired academic, occupational, or social functioning. It is characterized by core symptoms of inattention, including poor concentration, forgetfulness, and difficulty following instructions, independent of intellectual capacity. While commonly associated with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), the term also describes a symptom that can arise from hormonal imbalances, sleep deprivation, or neurodegenerative processes.
