ATAC Trial

Meaning

The ATAC Trial, an acronym for “Arimidex, Tamoxifen, Alone or in Combination,” was a pivotal, large-scale, randomized, double-blind clinical study. It rigorously compared the efficacy and safety of anastrozole, an aromatase inhibitor, against tamoxifen, a selective estrogen receptor modulator, and their combination, as adjuvant endocrine therapy for postmenopausal women diagnosed with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer.
