ASPREE Trial

Meaning

ASPREE (Aspirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly) was a large, randomized, placebo-controlled trial. It investigated whether daily low-dose aspirin prolonged healthy independent living in older adults (70+ years, or 65+ for specific U.S. groups) without pre-existing cardiovascular disease, dementia, or major physical disability. This clarified aspirin’s primary prevention role.
