ASPREE Trial

Meaning

The ASPirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly (ASPREE) Trial was a landmark, large-scale, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study focused on determining the benefits and risks of daily low-dose aspirin in healthy older adults. The trial sought to answer whether aspirin could prolong healthy, independent living, defined as life free of dementia or persistent physical disability. It provided definitive evidence regarding primary prevention in the aging population.
