ARRB1 Gene

Meaning

The ARRB1 Gene, or Arrestin Beta 1, provides the genetic blueprint for producing the β-arrestin-1 protein, a critical scaffolding and regulatory molecule in cellular signal transduction. This protein plays a central role in governing the sensitivity and signaling duration of numerous G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) on the cell surface. These receptors are the primary targets for many peptide hormones and neurotransmitters throughout the endocrine system.
