Aromatase Imbalance

Meaning

Aromatase Imbalance refers to a clinically significant deviation from the optimal activity level of the aromatase enzyme, which is also known as estrogen synthetase. This enzyme catalyzes the critical final step in the biosynthesis of estrogens from androgens, converting testosterone into estradiol. An excessive or deficient level of aromatase activity can lead to a pathological ratio of sex steroids, profoundly impacting hormonal homeostasis in both male and female physiology.
