AR-V7

Meaning

AR-V7 is a truncated splice variant of the androgen receptor (AR), which lacks the C-terminal ligand-binding domain. This structural alteration renders it constitutively active, meaning it can promote androgen receptor signaling and gene transcription independently of androgen hormones or conventional anti-androgen therapies. Its presence is strongly associated with resistance to standard androgen receptor-targeted treatments in advanced prostate cancer.
