AR Gene Polymorphisms

Meaning

AR Gene Polymorphisms refer to common variations within the Androgen Receptor (AR) gene, primarily involving the number of CAG (cytosine-adenine-guanine) trinucleotide repeats and, to a lesser extent, GGN (glycine) repeats in its exon 1 region. These genetic differences are inherited and can influence the efficiency with which the androgen receptor protein functions, thereby modulating an individual’s sensitivity to androgens like testosterone and dihydrotestosterone.
