Antidrug Antibodies

Meaning

Antidrug Antibodies, or ADAs, are immune proteins produced by the body’s humoral immune system in response to therapeutic agents, particularly biologic drugs like recombinant hormones or monoclonal antibodies. These antibodies recognize the therapeutic drug as a foreign antigen, initiating an immune response against it. The presence of ADAs can significantly diminish the drug’s intended efficacy or, in some cases, precipitate adverse immunological reactions.
