Anti-Drug Antibody

Meaning

Anti-Drug Antibodies, or ADAs, are immune proteins produced by a patient’s body in response to a therapeutic drug, particularly biologic agents. These antibodies recognize the administered drug as a foreign substance, initiating an immune reaction against it. This physiological response can diminish the drug’s intended effectiveness or lead to undesirable adverse events, presenting a significant challenge in clinical pharmacology and patient management.
