Anemia of Androgen Deficiency

Meaning

Anemia of androgen deficiency is a specific type of anemia characterized by a reduction in red blood cell mass resulting from suboptimal levels of circulating androgens, such as testosterone. This hematological condition is frequently observed in individuals with hypogonadism, representing a systemic consequence of endocrine insufficiency. Clinically, it often manifests as a normocytic, normochromic anemia, indicating the red cells are of normal size and hemoglobin content but are simply too few in number.
