Anemia in CKD

Meaning

Anemia in Chronic Kidney Disease refers to a condition characterized by a reduced red blood cell mass or hemoglobin concentration in individuals living with impaired renal function. This form of anemia is typically normocytic and normochromic, meaning the red blood cells are of normal size and hemoglobin content, distinguishing it from other types of anemia like iron deficiency anemia which often presents with microcytic hypochromic cells.
