Andropause Skeletal Decline

Meaning

The progressive reduction in bone mineral density and deterioration of bone microarchitecture that occurs in men, typically coinciding with the age-related decrease in circulating androgen levels, a state often clinically referred to as andropause or late-onset hypogonadism. This condition elevates the risk of fractures and compromises the structural integrity of the skeletal system over time. Clinically, it represents a direct consequence of diminished anabolic hormone signaling on osteoblast function and bone matrix synthesis.
