Androgenic Environment

Meaning

A state within the body characterized by a high relative concentration or heightened biological effect of androgens, which are steroid hormones like testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This environment influences various tissues, including skin, hair follicles, and muscle, driving the expression of male secondary sexual characteristics. Maintaining hormonal balance is crucial, as an excessive androgenic environment can lead to clinical manifestations like hirsutism or acne in women, or contribute to male pattern baldness.
