Androgen Withdrawal Effects

Meaning

Androgen withdrawal effects describe the physiological and psychological changes that occur when the concentration of circulating androgens, primarily testosterone and dihydrotestosterone, is significantly reduced in the body. This state can be induced intentionally through medical intervention, such as Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT), or occur naturally with age-related decline or gonadal dysfunction. Manifestations can include alterations in body composition, diminished libido, mood disturbances, and reduced bone mineral density.
