Androgen Suppression Mood

Meaning

Androgen suppression mood refers to the spectrum of affective and cognitive changes that can manifest when circulating androgen levels, primarily testosterone, are significantly reduced. This clinical phenomenon is commonly observed in individuals undergoing androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for prostate cancer, or in other states of severe hypogonadism. Symptoms often include depressed mood, increased anxiety, irritability, emotional lability, and disturbances in cognitive functions such as memory and concentration.
