Androgen Saturation

Meaning

Androgen saturation describes the state where the body’s androgen receptors are fully occupied or maximally stimulated by circulating androgens, such as testosterone and dihydrotestosterone. Achieving this state implies that increasing the concentration of free androgens will not yield a greater biological effect because the available receptors are already bound. This concept is clinically relevant in hormone replacement therapy and the treatment of androgen-sensitive conditions. Monitoring this level helps clinicians optimize therapeutic dosing while minimizing potential side effects associated with excessive hormone levels.
