Androgen Resistance

Meaning

Androgen resistance is a clinical condition characterized by the body’s diminished ability to respond normally to androgens, which are a class of steroid hormones including testosterone and dihydrotestosterone. Despite the presence of normal or elevated circulating androgen levels, target tissues fail to exhibit the expected biological effects. This lack of cellular response leads to a spectrum of phenotypic manifestations, often impacting sexual development and secondary sex characteristics.
