Androgen Imbalance

Meaning

Androgen imbalance signifies a state where the levels or activity of androgen hormones, such as testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT), are either excessively high or pathologically low relative to physiological norms. This disruption can occur in both males and females, manifesting as distinct clinical syndromes depending on the direction and magnitude of the hormonal deviation. In women, hyperandrogenism is a hallmark of conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), while hypogonadism in men represents the most common presentation of androgen deficiency.
