Androgen Assays

Meaning

Androgen assays are specialized laboratory tests used to quantitatively measure the concentration of androgenic hormones, such as testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS), in biological fluids like serum or saliva. These diagnostic tools are indispensable in clinical endocrinology for evaluating hormonal status in both men and women. Accurate measurement is critical for diagnosing conditions related to androgen excess, such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), or androgen deficiency, like hypogonadism.
