Anabolic Steroid Withdrawal

Meaning

A clinical syndrome encompassing the physical and psychological symptoms that occur upon cessation of exogenous anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) use, often after prolonged, supraphysiological dosing. The primary clinical manifestation is hypogonadism, characterized by significantly suppressed endogenous testosterone production, which can lead to depressive symptoms, fatigue, and loss of muscle mass. Management focuses on restoring the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis function.
