Anabolic Ratio

Meaning

The Anabolic Ratio is a conceptual metric in endocrinology and clinical physiology, representing the dynamic balance between circulating anabolic hormones and catabolic hormones within the plasma. It is most frequently characterized by the ratio of testosterone to cortisol (T:C ratio), providing an index of the body’s overall state of tissue building versus tissue breakdown. A higher ratio typically correlates with a favorable environment for muscle protein synthesis, recovery from physical stress, and optimized body composition. This ratio is a valuable biomarker for assessing systemic stress load and the efficacy of training or therapeutic interventions.
