Alternate-Day Fasting

Meaning

Alternate-Day Fasting, often abbreviated as ADF, is a structured eating pattern characterized by alternating days of caloric restriction or complete fasting with days of unrestricted food intake. This dietary approach typically involves consuming a very limited number of calories, usually 0-25% of one’s estimated daily energy needs, on designated “fasting days,” while the subsequent “feeding days” permit ad libitum eating without specific caloric or macronutrient limitations.
