AIP Mutation

Meaning

An AIP mutation is a genetic alteration in the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor Interacting Protein (AIP) gene. This specific mutation predisposes individuals to pituitary adenomas, primarily growth hormone-secreting tumors causing acromegaly, and less often, prolactinomas. These mutations are frequently associated with familial isolated pituitary adenoma (FIPA) syndromes.
