AhR

Meaning

The Aryl hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor from the bHLH-PAS superfamily. It functions as an environmental sensor, mediating cellular responses to endogenous and exogenous ligands, particularly xenobiotics like dioxins. Upon activation, it translocates to the nucleus, binding specific DNA sequences, regulating target gene expression.
